Today, we read and discussed the story "The No Guitar Blues" by Gary Soto, and then we revistited and discussed the essay about "The No-Guitar Blues" that we read on Wednesday. We discussed how this essay could be better and what its shortcomings are. Then we reviewed and discussed what theme is and I handed out Academic Vocabulary Collection #4 (which defines theme). Then we discussed and practiced how to identify a theme in a story and completed a theme-finding activity see this handout.)
